Straight On Till Morning by Liz Braswell

Disney Press’ series of Twisted Tales takes readers on “What If…?” adventures across your favorite animated Disney films by altering a single key plot point to create a new twisted version. You think you know the story of Peter Pan. Maybe you’ve read the classic book or seen the musical. I’m sure you’ve seen the animated Disney classic. Well, how do you think the story would change if Wendy first traveled to Never Land with Captain Hook?

In Straight On Till Morning, Wendy Darling, now in her teens, is having trouble finding her place in the world. She has trouble making friends at the dull parties she’s forced to attend because she talks too much of dreams and stories. Her parents worry her tales and fantasies of Never Land are keeping her from reaching her full potential in high society.

After threatening to send her to Ireland as a governess, Wendy plans her escape. She still holds hope that Never Land exists and will be the magical safe haven she imagined after first meeting Peter Pan several years earlier. Her ticket there…Peter’s shadow.

Desperate to get to Never Land, she makes a deal with Captain Hook for safe passage. Upon arrival, Wendy begins to realize Never Land isn’t quite what she imagined. With Tinker Bell as her less than helpful guide, Wendy must find Peter and put a stop to Captain Hook’s evil plans for Never Land once and for all. Strange foes and unexpected dangers make up a completely new Never Land adventure. Wendy even learns a little bit about herself along the way.

As a fan of all things Disney and Peter Pan, I enjoyed this YA Twisted Tale and look forward to exploring other titles in the series.
