And finally, we have reached the end of the Shatter Me series! Imagine Me is a great
conclusion to a great series. This novel, in short, contains one highly engaging final conflict between the supreme commanders and the forces of Juliette/Warner.
I think what’s made this series overall so successful is Mafi’s talent in creating realistic
characters, as mentioned in a previous review, and her ability to effectively bring about
suspense. Even having established that Juliette and her buddies/allies are unfathomably
powerful with their special abilities, Mafi leads readers to doubt their victory in wars/battles and creates scenes where the supreme commanders overpower them.
Kenji is still a highly humorous character, and Warner’s interactions with him are still
amusing. That alone made the book worth reading for me. However, I feel that if Mafi were to add another book to the series, it would be detrimental, as some of the scenes/parts of the book are starting to feel repetitive, an example being excerpts from the journal Juliette kept while at the asylum. Of course, I know the reasons for inserting them –to help make the novel more emotionally powerful and to demonstrate Juliette regaining parts of her memory– but they are repetitive and slightly dull regardless. I kind of felt this while reading the fifth installment in the series but let it slide I guess haha.
Imagine Me contains all the key elements of a Shatter Me series novel: an engaging plot,
suspense, romance, humor, and great characters. Check it out today for another great read and the stunning finale to this 6-part series!
