TBR: Unravel Me (Shatter Me Series, Book #2) by Tahereh Mafi

Unravel Me picks up right where Shatter Me ends, and if you don’t remember the content of the first book, no need to fret, as the author reminds you by inserting reminders throughout the opening pages of this sequel. This book is mostly centered around Juliette getting more used to her new life at Omega Point, discovering more about Warner, and her getting involved in a nasty event at the end. The book simply leaves you on just the most ultimate cliffhanger.

While Unravel Me has less action compared to books like Ender’s Game, Legend, or Ready Player One, I really enjoyed how realistic it was. No reactions of the characters were out of place, and their responses to their environments and various events were true to them. And that was good enough for me in order to make the book engrossing.

One major development in the story that I did not mention above is Juliette and the rest of her allies getting prepared and actually going out to engage in a war with the Supreme Commander of America (Warner’s father) toward the end. This part’s pretty suspenseful, so it’s definitely something to look forward to. Juliette’s closer allies, basically friends, in the third book of this series are also introduced here, like Brendan, who possesses, electric power, and Winston, who has extremely elastic limbs. In the sense that it has and features characters with special powers, this book is a lot like the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series and even Stranger Things. If you found those interesting or fun to watch, I think you’ll have a blast with this novel.
