If you’re looking for a spooky and creepy book to read this fall, why don’t you try reading “Hallowe’en Party?” “Hallowe’en Party” is one of the last books that Agatha Christie wrote in her series of Hercule Poirot mysteries. Hercule Poirot is one of the most famous detectives that Agatha Christie created. The special characteristic about this book is that Christie’s style of writing is extremely different from her previous books. The book starts off in Rowena Drake, or Mrs. Drake’s house. There, a couple of adults are preparing a Hallowe’en party for children. As the preparation takes place, Joyce Reynolds, a 13-year-old girl, says that she once witnessed a murder, which everyone thinks is a lie. Ariadne Oliver, or Mrs. Oliver is one of the guests at the party, helping with the set up. She is a crime fiction author and one of Hercule Poirot’s friends. By the end of the party, there is a crime scene with Joyce Reynolds as the victim.
After the night of the party, Mrs. Oliver travels to London to seek help from Hercule Poirot, in order to solve the mystery. Joyce was missing after the last activity of the Hallowe’en party and was later found dead in the library. Mrs. Oliver then tries to piece together the murderer’s motive. Poirot carefully interviews all of the party guests and investigates who the killer could possibly be. As the story progresses, more victims are found, but in the end, there may be more than one murderer to this story.
Overall, “Hallowe’en Party,” was a very engrossing story that was gripping throughout. It may seem too creepy and weird for some readers, but it truly is an outstanding work that can capture the reader’s attention and play with their mind. “Hallowe’en Party” may not be your everyday mystery novel, but it is definitely worth taking the time to read.
