Missed a session the first time around? Teen Program Mashup is your second chance to design some perler bead creations, re-purpose art or shoot a short stop motion animation film. All supplies provided.

Mission Set 3: Work Together

 

 

  • Strategize! Come up with brilliant solutions as a group at our Escape Room, Pixel Pals or Stop Motion Animation programs and then feel great about yourselves.
    • Come check out one or all of these fun programs and get creative!
  • Tales of Teamwork Read an article (Tumblr or Buzzfeed counts), book (fiction or non-fiction) about people actively working on an issue you care about, whether it be in politics, the tech industry, or the arts.
    • Find a book or article about something you are passionate about no matter the subject…see how people are working to make the issue less of an issue!
  • Lend a helping hand. Volunteer your time officially or just do a good deed on your own to help someone in need. Tell us about it in a sentence below:

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

Mission: Be Eco-Friendly!!

How do you complete this mission? Simple just follow these steps and check off when you finish on your Summer Reading account!!

  •  Repurpose recyclables into art Make something old new again at one of our summer programs: Upcycled Crafts, Stop Motion Animation, or our Mashup Session of programs you missed!
    • Just attend one of the listed programs at any branch and you have completed this step of the mission!
  • Read up: Find an online article (yes, Buzzfeed counts), book (fiction or non-fiction), or magazine about any environmental issue that interests you. Climate change, endangered species, whatever floats your boat!
    • Bonus to this…whatever you read counts towards your Read 5 Challenge!!
  • Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. Find one way to reduce waste or make a more eco-friendly choice in your daily life. Write it below.
    • Need ideas? Check out websites for different trash companies or electric companies!

  • Learn about Do-Gooder Careers. Join the summer session of Career Conversations or watch a Feel Good Flick about someone who changed the world and get inspired for your own future.
    • Come check out these awesome programs! Each library will have different speakers for Career Conversations and on July 5th and 6th we will be showing some awesome films at the Feel Good Flick!
      • Feel Good Flick:
        • Valencia – July 5th at 4pm
        • Canyon Country – July 5th at 4pm
        • Newhall – July 6th at 4pm
      • Career Conversations
        • Newhall – June 15th at 5pm
        • Canyon Country – June 21st at 5pm
        • Valencia – June 27th at 5pm
  • Find a changemaker.  Read an interview, magazine or book (fiction or non-fiction) about a young person making a difference in the world. It can be anyone who inspires you to make a difference. You can also check out our booklist on do-gooders.
    • Tip: Whatever you read will count towards the Read 5 Challenge!
  • Compliment someone you admire. Does someone in your life kill it at being a person in the world? Tell them so in person or text or in an old-fashioned note (and get good karma points in the process).
