April – National Garden Month

Spring is here! If you haven’t already started planning this year’s garden it’s time to get a move on. Every April communities, organizations, and individuals nationwide celebrate gardening during National Garden Month. Gardeners know, and research confirms, that nurturing plants is good for us: attitudes toward health and nutrition improve, kids perform better at school, and community spirit grows. The National Garden Bureau worked with 23 cosponsoring national horticultural organizations to legislate National Garden Week. Former President Reagan signed the Proclamation April 18, 1986. In 2002, the National Gardening Association resolved to extend the celebration to encompass the entire month of April. Read’em, weed’em, and reap with these titles
